Heart and Lung Report - Healthwatch Tameside
The Government has announced that the NHS budget will be increased by £20bn a year. In January 2019, the NHS in England published a ten-year plan showing how this extra money will be spent.
The plan sets out the areas the NHS wants to make better. The NHS hopes that by spending more money on services in the community, and by making sure that care works as well as possible, it can save money overall and ensure people have all the support they need.
Healthwatch England planned a project to make sure all local Healthwatch across England asked the same questions. Healthwatch Tameside has been working together with the other local Healthwatch in Greater Manchester to find out what local people think. The GM wide reports will published shortly.
In addition to publicising the general survey (to be reported on separately) and the other condition specific surveys to people who live and work in Tameside, Healthwatch Tameside chose as our focus the Heart and Lung specific survey. This is an area we have not looked at closely before, and heart and lung diseases affect a high number of people in Tameside. We used the Healthwatch England survey and carried out focus groups.
This report summarises what we were told.
